viime kesänä

scanned some old film negatives of rolls taken last summer in italy. some of the photos i had never even seen before, since the people at the photo store had decided they were too poor quality to be developed! i do see their point, however i think they look great with their light leaks and blurs and bad lighting! (and actually a few of them have absolutely nothing wrong with them- go figure...)

anyhow, here my discoveries:

i only just got my scanner and don't always get it quite right at the first time! i did something wrong when scanning some of these negatives, misplaced them somehow (some of them were cut in the middle), however i noticed that in some of them the colours became much softer and better when scanned wrongly! or what do you think? first the correctly scanned, then wrongly.

  1. I love the fact that the "professional's" at the photo store decide who's pictures are good enough to be developed.
Think where this could lead "I'm sorry, we didn't develope your wedding pictures, because your dress was awful." or "Why don't you get yourself more beautiful friends, because these looked too weird and drunk to have their pics developed."

  2. haha! :D exactly. i guess it's better to make sure first that both have the same definition of a 'good' photograph.. (when the developer at the store ask whether i want all the photos developed or only the good ones, i thought by 'bad' photos she just meant way too over/underexposed photos)
